5 Airport Bars to Visit Now – The Skies Just Got a Lot Friendlier

By Chilled Magazine

Whether you’re a seasoned jet-setter or occasional traveler, it can be hard to find an airport watering hole that’s up to snuff.

If we were to pinpoint the best airport bars in the world, however, we’d come up with some impressive selections. These are the cocktail havens, beer taverns, and historic wine bars to be found in case you’ve got a layover while in these particular necks of the woods – just don’t blame us if you miss your connecting flight:

Atlanta (ATL) : One Flew South

Touted as ATL’s first upscale bar, One Flew South is already seven years old but still leads the airport bar pack. Expect inspired cocktails tailored to the seasons, just like the food, which is an international menu injected with a little Southern flair. Also stellar is the wine list, which features many boutique offerings and has something for every traveler’s budget. And if your connection’s coming up fast, they’ve got a to-go menu for something tasty and convenient.

Denver (DEN) : Cru Food and Wine Bar

Head to Terminal B at DEN for some wine, cheese, and charcuterie and charge your Smartphone while you get your drink on (there are outlets under the bar). The airport outpost of the popular Larimer Square destination is a great place to sip some of Colorado’s best wines. Cru’s list is always evolving, whether you choose by the glass, bottle, or even a flight. With tasty breakfast and unique cheese offerings, a visit to Cru is guaranteed to be great no matter what time of day.

Portland (PDX) : Rogue Ale’s Public House

In PDX’s Concourse D, you’ll find Rogue Ale’s Public House, a bar featuring 12 beers, primarily Rogue, of course, on tap. Naturally, their cocktails showcase their own spirits, including Chatoe Rogue single malt whiskey. Kobe cheeseburgers are made with Rogue Creamery blue cheese and Harry’s beer cheese soup is made with their own Dead Guy ale. And if it weren’t enough that their entire food and drink menu is everything fantastically Rogue, the real capper is that you can buy and fill a growler and take it with you – to go.

Rome (FCO) : Dei Frescobaldi

There are two locations of Dei Frescobaldi Wine Bar in the Rome airport, with Tuscan varietals from the 700-year-old winemaker family on full view. The entire list is enviable, actually, so it would do you good to take time to taste through all that Italy has to offer. Pair your wines up with some cheese and charcuterie, perhaps including some regional mozzarella di bufala drizzled with truffle oil. And now you’re on your way.

Zurich (ZRH) : Center Bar

What could be more perfect food while traveling than seafood and wine at Center Bar in the Zurich airport? The aptly named bar in the middle of ZRH is ensconced in natural light and designed with beautiful geometric details, perfect for enjoying a fillet of Swiss Balik salmon, a glass of Champagne, and some Pruner caviar.
