Featured Beer: Brewdog’s “The End of History”

By Adam Rains

What is the point of making one of the world’s strongest beers without selling it in the world’s strangest package?

brewdog-pouringThe eclectic and wild Scottish brewery Brewdog knew this and that’s why when they brewed their latest creation “The End of History,” which weighs in at 55% ABV they decided to put it into a taxidermy squirrel.

“The End of History” is a blonde Belgian ale is infused with nettles from the Scottish Highlands and Fresh juniper berries. Each bottle comes with its own certificate and is presented in a striking package created by a very talented taxidermist and all the animals used were road kill. The Brewdog website has this to say about their wildest creation:

“In true BrewDog fashion we’ve torn up convention, blurred distinctions and pushed brewing and beer packaging to its absolute limits. This beer is an audacious blend of eccentricity, artistry and rebellion; changing the general perception of beer one stuffed animal at a time.”

Only 12 bottles of the beer have been made seven inside a stuffed stoat for $500.00 and four in a grey squirrel for $700.00. Brewdog has sold out of these unusual creations but their other wildly high ABV beers (among some of the strongest brewed today) can be purchased such as their 32% ABV “Tactical Nuclear Penguin” and their 41% ABV “Sink the Bismarck!”

“At BrewDog we want to push the boundaries and challenge people’s perceptions about what beer is and how it can be enjoyed. We ultimately want to show people that there is an alternative to the mainstream, generic beers and make other people as passionate about craft beer as we are.”
