The American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA) and the New York State Distillers Guild salute Governor Cuomo for signing the craft beverage law announced last week.
As stated, the goal of the new law is “to further develop the industry and raise the profile of New York’s beverage producers.”
Governor Cuomo’s enactment is not only a great tribute to the phenomenon of craft throughout America, but specifically a tribute to the benchmark contributions of New York to the enduring economic and cultural significance of “Craft.”
As Nicole Austin, President of the New York Distillers Guild, states.
“Governor Cuomo has opened the door for amazing growth in the craft world. As craft producers, we take Governor Cuomo’s new law to heart: Across the board we are real, we are local, we care about what we make.”
Ralph Erenzo, of Tuthilltown Spirits adds a further note:
“Since the earliest days, craft was all we had; it was the cornerstone upon which the democracy we enjoy today was created. I don’t actually own a three-cornered hat,” he adds, “but, in the spirit of John Adams, and all the rest, I tip it to Governor Cuomo.”
In that spirit, we tip ours to the artisans, craftsmen, and-now, Governor Cuomo and all the folks behind this initiative.
