When you’re making your list and checking it twice this holiday season, Del Papa Distributing Company and Anheuser-Busch remind you to plan the ultimate gift for family and friends – a designated driver.
As part of the “Wanna Go Home with Me Tonight?” designated driver campaign, Del Papa Distributing encourages adults to sign up to be the designated driver for their group at www.facebook.com/buddesignateddriver.
In addition to practical party tips and compelling statistics, the Facebook page assists groups of friends with randomly selecting a designated driver for a specific event; awards one designated driver each week with an MP3 player and case; showcases the campaign’s catchy TV and radio spots; and recognizes designated drivers by placing a special badge on their Facebook profiles.
“We’re committed to helping keep our roads safe – especially during the holiday season,” says Matthew Sweatt, Director of Retail Marketing at Del Papa Distributing Company. “This campaign reminds adults in a fun way to plan ahead by using a designated driver when they’re out celebrating this holiday season.”
Adults who sign up will join the more than 148 million American adults who have been a designated driver or been driven home by one, according to a projection based on a 2009 survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation CARAVAN®. Thanks to efforts like these and increased law enforcement, our nation is making progress in the fight against drunk driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving fatalities have declined 44 percent since 1982.
Since 1982, Anheuser-Busch and its nationwide network of 600 wholesalers have invested more than $750 million in national advertising campaigns and community-based programs to promote responsible drinking and prevent alcohol abuse. In 2009, for the sixth year in a row, the company ranked first in the beverage industry for social responsibility in FORTUNE magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies.” For more information on these efforts and the progress being made, visit www.beeresponsible.com.
