Dolin Estate Expands from Malibu Coast to Central Coast with Four Pinot Noir Wines from Premier Vineyards

By Chilled Magazine

Elliott and Lynn Dolin, proprietors of Dolin Estate, have introduced a new array of Pinot Noirs from California’s Central Coast.

The inaugural Dolin Estate Pinot Noir release comes from the 2012 vintage, and includes a Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir ($32) and three single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from some of the region’s most esteemed sites: Bien Nacido ($45), Talley ‘Rincon’ ($45) and Solomon Hills ($45).

Having produced Malibu Coast Chardonnay from their estate vineyard since 2009, Elliott and Lynn will introduce additional Malibu wines from neighboring vineyards in 2015. Seeking opportunities beyond Malibu, Elliott looked north to the Central Coast to source Pinot Noir. Working closely with veteran Central Coast Winemaker Kirby Anderson and leveraging relationships with top growers, Elliott was able to secure fruit from his favorite vineyards.

“As Pinot Noir lovers, it’s a dream to make wines from these amazing vineyards that we’ve followed for so many years,” says Elliott Dolin. “We want the Dolin Estate portfolio to be comprehensive, but there is a common stylistic thread running through all of our wines which is rich fruit, bright acidity and voluptuous texture.”

The new Pinot Noirs are made by Kirby Anderson, who has produced Dolin Estate’s Malibu Coast Chardonnay since 2010. The collaborative process involves frequent meetings with Elliott during the growing season in both Malibu and the Central Coast to monitor ripening in the vineyards.
