INGREDIENTS:

2 oz. Veev

1 3/4 oz. Fresh sweet & sour

1/4 oz. Ginger shrub

3 dashes angostura

2 oz. Charged water (sparkling water/club soda)

Orange Cherry flag

PREPARATION:

Measure and pour all ingredients (excluding the charged water) into an iced cobbler shaker.

Hard shake in a figure eight motion, mixing and aerating without over dilution.

Double strain mixture into an iced collins glass.

Top with charged water.

Garnish with fresh orange swath wrapped around brandied cherry (skewered to hold in position).

GARNISH:

Flag

GLASSWARE:

Collins

INSPIRATION:

Inspired by 2 extremely popular spring cocktails, the moscow mule and the collins. I wanted to provide something for this guest preference that would allow me to introduce them further to our cocktail program, our use of shrubs and my intention to have a great mixed appertif. While reading “speak easy” I saw the use of this term often and was struck that a cocktail could be an aid to appetite. What better appetite stimulant than something that is mouth watering, vinegar and lemons. I went to work with shrubs and citrus, the suit and tie was.
